The Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992 pertain to package holidays and those that sell or arrange them including
travel agents. Tour operators are required to provide reasonable and appropriate
lodgings, and must meet the standards and provide the facilities they have described in
brochures or marketing campaigns and holiday companies are liable to pay compensation if
standards are not met. Operators must offer full information on the details of the holiday
in good time, before the contract is entered into. Regulations also ensure that companies
show evidence that they can refund the value of the holiday and repatriate the consumer,
in the event of their insolvency.
